Comments: Thanks for a nice web site. My mother used to sing me "He's only a working man" as a boy in the east end of London. I always enjoyed the song but never heard it sung commercially. Now thanks to the web I have been able to enjoy the performance which obviously inspired my mother, and also learned a bit about the woman who started it all. Thanks. Great job.

Comments: I knew Don Ross, who ran the Thanks for the Memory tours in the late 1940s and 50s. He spoke very highly of Lily Morris, who was a tremendous asset to his shows. I often run the clip of her doing 'Why Am I Always the Bridesmaid?' from the old movie 'Elstree Calling' to visitors and even youngsters, who have never heard of Lily Morris, fall about when she goes into her dance at the end. I have never seen a female performer do anything funnier.

Comments: Hi there, I am Lily Morris's Great Granddaughter. My Grandfather was her only son, Leonard Morris. My Granddad told me many stories of watching the performances. He was a true character, and liked to tell many a joke... When the war broke out he went to live with Lily's sister, who was a hat maker. He always wore a trilby wherever he went. The nickname "the hat" soon followed him. Unfortunately he died in October 2005. My father unfortunately did'nt get to meet his grandmother, as Lily died just before he was born. There are 5 of us (Lilys great grandchildren). Not forgetting my 2 nieces and nephew!!! It would be lovely to find any existing relatives. Or hear any new information of the family line. Kind Regards Rebecca Morris

Comments: I have a signed autograph page from the Thanks for the memory revival tour, Boscombe Hippodrome 25th July 1949. I made a point of listening to any CDs I could find of the artists and immediately fell in love with the songs of Lily Morris. My favourite song of hers is "Don't have any more Missus Moore"
Admin reply: Good morning,
Thanks for your guestbook message last month and your interest in Lily's website.
Is the signature of Lily in an actual programme from the 'Thanks for the Memory' tour? If so we'd love to include it in the website. I wondered if you'd be willing to make a scan of it all and contribute it?
Regards - Roger
